Our Poets

Hi I'm Will. I am University Student currently studying BA English (Hons) and of course I have a deep interest in poetry. Before creating this website, I wanted to form a space where young people could share their work easily without having to spend anything or sign up to anything. An open platform for any kind of writer to share their work. Poetry helps me escape, it allows me to create little worlds and dialogues where I can feel more close to nature, to problems that exist constantly on our planet. I want to open up my escape, a world into words that come from any kind of person at any kind of time. My poetry usually spans from situations that people can usually relate to. I also love writing about nature and taking my influence from going on walks, travelling across the country and much more. Being able to write about these things empowers me as well as giving me that escape to different worlds that I can have at my fingertips.

My earliest memory of Poetry was an English class at age 11. I tried it and loved it. I wrote a 100 page book and gave it to my Senior English Teacher to critique. I never saw my book again. I suffered a writer's block until recently. I have been writing ever since.
Howard specialises in her easy-to-read poetry which hits you with simple messages. Her warming way of writing is simple and makes a great change to traditional bounds usually see by poetry today and well, since we ever saw a poem for the first time.

I write poetry to express myself, my thoughts, my feelings. I’m not the best at speaking out loud as I go bright red but writing shows who I am. I’m inspired by people, experiences, what affects us as people. It may sound strange but I like to put myself in the shoes of others and I feel I can empathise with them and their experiences and emotions. I’ve been told I do it quite well, I hope that’s true. I like to help people and if they’re hurting I will write something personal for them. I’ve been asked to write several poems for funerals. I’ve written a Children’s book which is done in a rhyming style. This has been published. I’m hoping to have others I have written published in the future. I run a small drama group for people who wouldn’t normally be able to go on stage, it’s inclusive for all. I write the scripts and everything we do is for local charities. I just want to be happy and help my family and others who need help.

I write poetry to tell a story—to weave narratives that capture the essence of our human experience. In this dreaded world we live in, I find inspiration in the shadows and the light, in the moments of despair and the fleeting glimpses of hope. My verses are a reflection of the chaos and beauty that surround us, a jumbled tapestry drawn from every walk of life and every time. My heart beats for movies and filmmaking more than it does for poetry because it brings stories to life with vibrant colour and sound. My interests and ambitions come together in the field of filmmaking, where I hope to present stories that have the same profound resonance as my writings. You will discover a kaleidoscope of ideas and feelings in my poems, which may appear disorganized at first, yet come together to make sense. My words aim to portray pictures with language that convey the raw and the genuine, from the everyday to the exceptional, capturing the numerous dimensions of existence.

Writing poems offers me the calmness to face the raging storms of life. It gives me peace and calls my silences by their names. In writing, I feel the abyss of truth; I walk between the tender and sometimes the severeness of lines, stanzas, and expressions. Each time I look at the vast blank space of a book, I see the sleeves of a self-beaconing, struggling, and praying for mercy from the firm grip of pain, grief, and depression. I see a country broken, too broken to stand beauty. I write to find purpose in a world full of uncertainty—the screech of babies and adults begging for a moment to stay strong and smile for at least a split second. I write to God, telling him what I can and cannot swallow because everything here is fashioned with the tendency to kill. Everything carries the portraiture of a bullet, knife, or needle. I have, on many occasions, betrayed myself into something invincible. Into the horror of many nights and the forbearances of many cold mornings— how I touched a body, and it wilted into a garden of grief, cutting into me, into the edges (ages) of my being. So, when I write, I pour myself into every tethering poem. I believe a poem belongs to the poet first before the readers. The poet is the sink, the line, the bait of a poem—He’s the words peeling off into shards of emotions. Perhaps writing gives me this unfathomable confidence to stop at the mirror and call my name like a flower holding onto the tangibility of hope. What does a writer have in life if not hope and more hope? To write is to break into multiple sounds, beauty, and structure. To say I am still here, catch my breath. I write to call a boy(self) into the world of arts and beauty. Into the shattering shoulders of love.

HI, I'm Rebecca and I write Poetry as a way of releasing my emotions. Through my words I am able to find a healing and a comfort that I never imagined I would discover. I am super passionate about the Poetry world and all written works. I am inspired by passion and emotion and strive to create my own personal narrative and experiences as the pen to guide my hand when creating. I am a Self Published Author and have released my own Poetry Collection on Amazon earlier this year. My dream is to be able to be traditionally published and to spread my work and words to audiences who connect with what my work has to say. My Poetry is Dark, honest, open and very raw. it covers topics that are dark and can be quite triggering but I feel that in this day and age - these are topics that need to be represented by someone who has first hand experience with them. I want to be able to help people with my words.

Throughout my life, I have grappled with mental illness. Writing has been a therapeutic outlet for my emotions. My aspiration is that my poetry might ultimately serve as a source of inspiration and support for those who are struggling, offering them a sense of hope and connection. It is crucial to acknowledge that it is normal to experience difficulties and to seek assistance when needed.
Foss's poetry offers a deep and personal exploration of the self and the mind particularly in it's lowest states. And as individuals, there are various ways of coping with these struggles, one way being, writing about it.
