A Win | Diane C. Howard

You are forever a winner

If you decide what wins

You'll always bowl a strike

If you eliminate the pins

A win is a win is a win

If you have your peace

If you have no money

You have that at least

Counting little wins

Just might save your life

It's expecting too much from yourself

That causes so much strife

If you go to the grocery store

And park in the first spot

Count it as a win

Keep your energy on top

Lemons to lemonade

Just needs some sugar and water

If you are not making it

I really think you ought to

You found out the one you love

Is not in love with you

Count it as a win

Nobody's using on you

More about The Poem...

This poem emphasizes the importance of defining success on your own terms and recognizing small victories in life. The speaker encourages a mindset that values inner peace and satisfaction over traditional measures of success. By celebrating minor achievements, like finding a good parking spot or turning life's difficulties into opportunities (lemons to lemonade), the poem suggests that this perspective can reduce personal stress and enhance well-being. The poem concludes with a poignant example of finding a silver lining in heartbreak, highlighting the resilience and empowerment that come from counting even the smallest wins.
