Privacy, Data Protection & User Safety 

 

  1. a. When contacted by email, we do not save, interfere or record any conversations, data or information within communications. According to the Data protection: The Data Protection Act - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) we never save or share any of your information in any of these modes. 
    b. When completing an online form via our website, information you enter is the only information we physically receive. We will only use any information provided (as we ask for it) in publication such as chosen names etc. 
    c. If when asked information needs to be taken down due to reasons the user has stated, it would be done so immediately. You are never obliged to have information published for durations you are not comfortable with and we should be informed if necessary action needs to be taken. 
  2. a. When contacting us privately via social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, we will never save nor share any of your information regardless of it's status as public domain. We are not involved when enforcing Terms of Use or Service on any of these platforms. Example of one can be found here: Terms of Use | Instagram Help Centre (facebook.com). 
    b. We are also obliged to follow Terms of Use with all applications we utilise for our services. This includes social media stated above as well as Webador, tool used to create the website. 
    c. When contacting us in other modems such as SMS or via a phone call, we do not record or keep any information from these calls or messages. We do not interfere or keep voicemail messages in our phonebook. 
  3. We value your safety when your presence is publicised on our website and other platforms. If it is found another user and/or visitor of the website is harming you online (cyber bullying, harassment, exploiting your data) we will make sure to take action to stop this from happening further and advise user's to seek authority if necessary when a situation of this nature occurs. 
  4. The use of an external company/tool Webador to create this website does not interfere with our services, only personal ones if the creator of the website purchases one of their packages in terms of website creation, this has nothing to do with the domain of New Poet's Society.   5. a. Users must not share personal information in their submitted poetry unless they strictly need to. It is not necessary to share private data that could put you at risk online.
    b. Users must not use their poetry to contribute to Hate Speech, bullying, targeting minorities, sexism, racism, ableism, negative connotations toward religion, negative connotations toward culture. In doing so, the user will be blacklisted from our services.
    c. Users can criticise, contemplate, compliment and generally comment on our poetry that is published. However, if users use the comment section for familiar reasons associated in section 5.b. they will also be blacklisted from our services.
  6. User's must not include any harmful or private material in their Poet Profile's (associated with our 'Our Poets' page).
  7. a. User's must be kind, respectful and friendly when it comes to running our online poetry workshops. If users exhibit any sort of harmful, unfriendly, violent or disrespectful behaviour whilst on these video calls, they will be blacklisted from our services.
    b. Users must not use our Online Poetry Workshops to advertise and/or share information that isn't involved with the workshop they signed up for. In doing so, you will be removed from participating in our workshops after doing so.
    c. User's must not share explicit material or harmful material according to the conditions set by the following programmes we use: Microsoft Services Agreement and Zoom Terms of Service | Zoom
  8. When sharing posts or original posts associated with our platform, we do not tolerate any sort of negativity or false connotations toward our society. We understand everyone can have an opinion, however we can accept criticism and complaints from users without any false facts being used. 

Copyright, Reserved Rights & Publishing

 

  1. a. Our content is currently published in house, on our website and various social media platforms we hold. WE ARE NOT A PUBLISHING COMPANY so we will not ask for your copyright to be taken away, or any of your reserved rights for your work. They are yours, and if your poems are shared through our website, we will make sure that you are correctly credited. 
    b. Once becoming a credited and licensed publisher, any reserved rights and copyright will be discussed in private following a shared expenses and profit model used by other large companies. More about this will be added at a later date once future development into a publisher is made. 
  2. When introducing poetry anthologies and your work is showcased within this, you will be credited as the writer of your work fully and we will only contribute and be listed to the organisation and creation of the anthology, not the work showcased within it. 
  3. a. For other companies/personal bodies were to share, use or publish your work uncredited from our platform, we will take action into seizing your work and re-establishing your copyright where it so belongs according to the agreements made on publishing your work on our platform. 
    b. We use Automated Content Monitoring (ACM) such as Content ID systems for media or text comparison tools for written content. If we find a quota similarity of above 40%, we will take action and investigate the specific body who owns the content we have found. 
    c. We have DMCA compliance in place on all our published content. If we haven't found a copyright infringement before you do, you can report this to our DMCA Officer, yps.copyright@gmail.com 
  4. Anyone who submits content to publish on our platform has every right to that content. They are also obliged to register with their national copyright office if they wish to do so. Users do not have to do this as they are automatically protected by our Terms of Service and User Agreement stated below.

Access or attempt to access any non-public areas of the Website.
