I'm going to go ahead and say
Why I date trifling men
I am going to need him with me
When the world comes to an end
Something most people don't know
But the Bible says is true
When it comes time to Rapture
He'll take one out of two
So seeing as how I love God
And I believe the word
Standing next to another Saint
Would probably be absurd
More about The Poem...
This poem humorously and ironically explores the speaker's rationale for dating "trifling" men. It ties this choice to a religious belief about the Rapture, suggesting that if God takes one out of every two people, the speaker, being a believer, prefers to be with someone less saintly to increase their own chances of being chosen. The poem uses this ironic twist to play with the idea of faith and relationships, blending a light-hearted tone with a deeper reflection on personal beliefs and choices.
